The 16th Annual TAAC Exhibit “Our Paths Forward” provides a wealth of visual material and opportunities to see the faces of color. This refreshing collection of artwork by amateur and professional artists from the Ark-La-Tex area focuses on the African American experience. The fact that art museums display few works of and even fewer works created by African Americans causes one to think about the absence of artwork of black people and the importance of embracing this vital part of our culture. This exhibit creates a platform for building cultural awareness and promoting artistic expression.

“Our Paths Forward” portrays various ideas such as justice, freedom, peace, dignity, love, beauty, civil rights and achievement. The artwork of local featured artist Cedric Watson and regional guest artist Robert Collins segue the viewer from an African American experience to ultimately an American experience.

This Exhibit is made possible by contributions from TAAC Members.
