TRAHC's 29th Annual Juried Exhibition

It was a festive evening on Friday, July 14 as TRAHC hosted the opening reception for the 29th Annual Regional Juried Exhibition at the Regional Arts Center. The reception and the exhibition were both sponsored by E-Z Mart Stores, Inc. The public and art patrons joined TRAHC Staff and WFA volunteers in celebrating all the artists and artwork selected for display in this year's event.

All submissions were reviewed and judged by Dr. Lauren Cross, Lecturer in Interdisciplinary Art and Design Studies at the University of North Texas ‘s College of Visual Arts & Design, Denton, Texas.

This year's winners include:

This year's FaEllen and Jim Yates Collection Purchase award winner is Mike Brisco for “Buckeye on Board”. The Purchase Award will become part of the permanent collection at the Regional Arts Center.

The exhibit will be on display at the Regional Arts Center from July 14 through August 12.

TRAHCs 29th Annual Juried Exhibition is a juried exhibition celebrating local, regional, and national artists. The competition is hosted by the Texarkana Regional Arts and Humanities Council, an arts council located in Texarkana, Texas, and generously sponsored by E-Z Mart, Inc. $3750 in prizes!

Accepted work will be exhibited at TRAHC from July 14 - August 12, 2017.

Lauren Cross, PhD, MFA

Adjunct Professor and Interdisciplinary Art and Design Studies Lecturer at University of North Texas, Denton, TX
Lauren Cross is an artist, curator, and scholar living in Fort Worth, Texas. She earned her BA in Art, Design, and Media from Richmond, The American International University in London, England, MFA in Visual Arts from Lesley University in Cambridge, MA, and PhD from Texas Woman's University in Denton, TX. Her artistic work has been exhibited both nationally and internationally and she frequently facilitates curatorial and art projects both in the Dallas/Fort Worth area and beyond.

Cross is the Founder/Curator of non-profit arts organization in Fort Worth, WoCA Projects, and has received many awards for her creative work, including an official selection for the 2010 International Black Women’s Film Festival in Berkeley, CA for her first documentary, The Skin Quilt Project; The Fort Worth Weekly’s Third Annual Visionary Award in 2013; named #32 of 100 Top Dallas Creatives by the Dallas Observer in 2014-2015, and featured in the 2015 Edinburgh Art Festival. She is a Lecturer in the Department of Art Education + Art History at the University of North Texas' College of Visual Arts & Design (CVAD) where she serves as a core faculty member for the Interdisciplinary Art and Design Studies program.

Due to TRAHC's extremely limited storage space, artwork left more than 30 days after August 15, 2017 (September 15, 2017) will be deemed the property of TRAHC unless arrangements have been made in writing and agreed up on by both parties. Any artwork that arrived through USPS will be held until a pre-paid return-shipping label from FedEx or UPS is provided.
