TRAHC's 26th Annual Student Juried Exhibition

TRAHC present's the Annual Student Juried Exhibition May 26 at the Regional Arts Center in Downtown Texarkana. The Student Juried Exhibition has been a part of TRAHC's regional art shows for 26 years and features art from elementary, middle, and high school students in the Four States Area.

TRAHC is pleased to invite students to participate in the 26th Annual Juried Student Exhibition competition. This exhibit is generously sponsored by Elaine and Ken Cowling with additional support provided by Women for the Arts and proceeds from Party with Picassos.

This exhibition competition is FREE and open to all K – 12th grade students within the Four States Area. Elementary, Middle and High school entries will be judged in three separate divisions and works selected will be showcased at the Regional Arts Center May 26, 2018 ‐ July 7, 2018. Participants can enter independently with their parents help!

The deadline for submissions is May 12, 2018 at 3:45 p.m. Teachers/Parents should deliver artwork to the Regional Arts Center on or before that date. Below under "Downloads" you will find information on submission guidelines, entry criteria, entry registration forms, entry inventories, and artwork label forms.

The opening reception is Saturday, May 26 from 11:00 a.m. ‐ 12:00 p.m. at the Regional Arts Center. Award winners will be announced at 11:45 p.m.Cash prizes will be awarded to Middle and High school students who receive top honors for their work.

There will also be two Honorable Mention Awards, two Merit Awards, and a People’s Choice Award for each category. People’s Choice award voting will take place from 10:00 a.m. to 11:15 a.m. In addition, one exhibiting student from each division will be randomly selected to win an art supply gift bag.

In 2017 there were 555 entries from 10 high schools, 14 middle schools, 8 elementary schools, and 3 private instructors.
Out of those, 175 were accepted into the exhibit: 50 Elementary entries, 55 Middle School entries, and 70 high school entries.

First Place- Jakia Peoples of College Hill Elementary for “Princess Jakia”

Second Place- Brandon Foreback for “Bottles II”

Third Place- Maddie Murray of Trice Elementary for “Emotional Downpour”

Honorable Mention- Anna Claire Barr from Private Instructor Jeannie Edwards for “Happy Dog”

Honorable Mention- Aidan Harris of College Hill Elementary for “Overcast at Pinnacle Mountain”

Merit Award- Milaha Walton from Private Instructor Jeannie Edwards for “Shades of Blue”

Merit Award- Ella Dobbins of Pleasant Grove Intermediate for “Sprinkles Party”

People’s Choice Award- Aidan Harris of College Hill Elementary for “Hidden Picture”

Third Place- Lillian McGhee of Chisum Middle School for “Lilly of the Valley”

Honorable Mention- Alexia Jones for “Where are the Flowers”

Honorable Mention- Kendaris Nash of College Hill Middle School for “Self Portrait”

Merit Award- Madison Davis of Pleasant Grove Intermediate for “Living Outdoors”

Merit Award- Kaitlyn Batts from Hooks Jr. High for “Lemon Saturday”

People’s Choice Award- Riley White from Private Instructor Jeannie Edwards for “Saturday Morning”
