DESCRIPTION:What is the Mayo Arts Maker Space? \nTRAHC’s Mayo Furniture Arts MakerSpace is an exploratory studio experience designed for artists/makers of all ages and skill levels. This open\, hands-on environment invites participants to create\, experiment\, and explore a wide variety of unusual art materials through open-ended projects rather than step-by-step instructions. \nUnlike a traditional “make and take\,” the Mayo Arts MakerSpace emphasizes discovery\, critical thinking\, and creative problem solving. Makers engage with artistic challenges that have multiple solutions\, encouraging perseverance\, curiosity\, and personal expression. Experiences can be individual or collaborative\, allowing Makers to learn from both independent exploration and shared discovery. \nMaterials\, prompts\, and visual inspirations rotate regularly\, including seasonal and holiday influences. SUMMARY:June Evenings Wheel Throwing
DESCRIPTION:This 4-part class\, led by instructor and master potter John Delafield\, will guide students on an introduction to wheel throwing\, including wedging\, pulling/lifting\, creating handles\, centering\, and glazing. This class will meet on four Tuesday evenings in June: \n\nTuesday 6/2 (introduction and throwing)\nTuesday 6/9 (throwing)\nTuesday 6/16 (throwing/glazing) and\nTuesday 6/23 (glazing)\n\nMeeting times are 6-8pm each day that class meets. Students are also encouraged to wear clothes that are suitable for working with clay.  \nThis class is $275 and materials and clay/materials/tools are provided by the artist and TRAHC. Tuition is refundable only if less than 5 individuals register. This class will meet in the Clay Eichler Ceramics Studio in TRAHC’s ArtSpace (518 Pine Street\, Texarkana\, TX) and is open to individuals 13+.
