Job Description:

Visual Arts Coordinator

Texarkana Regional Arts & Humanities Council (TRAHC), an equal opportunity employer, seeks a Visual Arts Coordinator with expertise in art history, studio art, collections, curation, and museum education. The role involves overseeing TRAHC's exhibitions and community programs, collaborating with the full TRAHC team and local/regional partners.

Responsibilities:

  • Curate and manage exhibitions at the Regional Arts Center, including national & local exhibits.
  • Organize Annual International and Student Juried Exhibitions.
  • Conduct tours, design exhibit-related programming, and coordinate with the Exhibits Committee.
  • Develop strategic programs like Speaker Series, artist talks, and panels.
  • Coordinate community art experiences in multiple locations.
  • Manage program budgets and collaborate on equipment use with other TRAHC departments

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Visual Arts or Design, with Art History coursework.
  • Master's Degree preferred.
  • Experience in exhibitions and curation.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Mac platform, and preferred software.
  • Familiarity with AV equipment and project management is a plus.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and budgeting skills.
  • Basic grant writing experience preferred.
  • Excellent time management and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to manage part-time staff, instructors, and volunteers.
  • Self-starter who works independently and solves challenges proactively.

Environment & Physical Demands:

  • Operates in a professional office environment with some noise.
  • Sits at a computer but also stands for tours and community programs.
  • Handles light lifting (up to 30 pounds) during curatorial tasks.

Compensation & Benefits:

Full-time position with salary ($35,000 - $40,000) based on experience.
