The Muses Project Presents Fall Opera Cabaret: “Broken Standards”
The Muses Project of Hot Springs, is proud to present its upcoming fall Opera Cabaret, “Broken Standards,” Thursday, September 10, 7:00 PM at the Regional Arts Center. Delivered in the Muses’ signature style of excellence and artistry, “Broken Standards” offers a unique and captivating blend of early Western European music paired with early 20th-century American Jazz Standards.
Presented by The Muses Classical Troupe, the concert features a 30-person cast including a mixed choral ensemble led by eight internationally touring professional soloists, resident vocalists, and dancers. Audiences will experience evocative arrangements of Early Opera, Art Song, Oratorio, and Sacred selections by Handel, Purcell, and Bach alongside timeless American Big Band and Jazz classics by Cole Porter, George Gershwin, and Kurt Weill.
Music from these distinct eras represents both the origin of Opera and the cradle of Jazz—reflecting a shared belief in vocal music as a potent tool to evoke deep emotion, transporting both performer and audience to a higher level of transcendence and artistic absorption.
All Muses programs reinforce the organization’s dedication to excellence and inspiration, using the arts to educate, enlighten, and remain accessible to the whole community by presenting past “classics” in new, exceptional, and entertaining ways.
The Muses Project invites Texarkana music lovers to come and be swept away by the virtuosity of Baroque elegance and the timeless joy of early American jazz!
