Ikebana Inspired Ceramic Vessel & Floral Design Workshop
Bring your ceramic design to life (with some flowers) 🪴🪷🏺
In this two-part workshop, participants will create a vessel with Chris Thomas that promotes wabi sabi, a Japanese aesthetic focusing on items that are designed imperfectly or asymmetrically, as well join a floral design workshop with area designer Brent Stewart, using the vessels created in Chris’s class. The floral design component of this workshop will center on ikebana floral design: a style known for asymmetry, imbalance, and volume (or the lack thereof).
Ceramic vessels will be approximately 8″ wide and 5″ tall, with floral arrangements approximately 10″ wide to 14″ tall. This two-part class will meet in the Calhoun Studio at TRAHC’s ArtSpace (518 Pine Street) on the following dates:
Tuesday, August 11 from 6-8pm and
Thursday, August 27 from 6-8pm
Materials and tools are provided by the artists, instructors, and TRAHC. Tuition is nonrefundable only in the case less than eight students register, but registration may be transferred to another student. This course is open to individuals 18+. For additional questions, please email marcusz@trahc.org.
